Moonen Yachts is nearing the completion of the seventh superyacht in its premium semi-custom Martinique model, the 37.4-metre YN205. Scheduled for delivery in Spring 2025, the yacht is currently listed for sale with IYC, following the Dutch shipyard’s exclusive sales agreement with the brokerage in September 2024.

The Martinique success story

Renowned for her long-range steel hull, the Moonen 122 Martinique offers the perfect blend of elegance and functionality. “The Martinique model has been popular from the start, not just with experienced owners but also with the jury of the World Superyacht Awards,” shared Nicky van Zon, Technical Director of Moonen Yachts. “The first in the line won the Neptune for best in her class, and to date, there are no Martinique yachts on the second-hand market.”

Matthew Stone, Global Sales Consultant with IYC, added, “The Martinique model fills a market gap, offering an economical yacht to own and operate with Northern European pedigree – a rarity in this segment. It’s ideal for an experienced owner, the charter market, and beyond.” IYC Sales Consultant Richard Gray agreed, noting: “Few competitors offer a similar steel hull and aluminium superstructure, with the next delivery from others not available until 2031.”

Spacious, elegant, and durable

The fast-displacement hull of the Martinique model is built with high-tensile steel, creating a lighter yacht without sacrificing comfort and strength. This innovation pairs durability with sleek lines and an impressive 345 GT volume – a standout feature in her class. “Achieving this interior volume while preserving the yacht’s elegant exterior lines was an intense process, made possible through close collaboration with exterior designer René van der Velden and naval architect Diana Yacht Design,” said Nicky.

While the 345 GT volume is remarkable, it’s the efficient use of space that truly stands out. Guest areas have been optimised in the main saloon, bridge deck sky lounge, and even crew quarters, thanks to a wide-pointed superstructure and input from Hollander Yacht Design. “Floor-to-ceiling windows and seamless indoor-outdoor flow further enhance the sense of spaciousness,” he added. “At boat shows, we often need to explain that our Martinique model is only 37.4 metres long – not 40 metres.”

Versatile and customisable

YN205 offers an even more spacious and versatile layout than earlier Martinique yachts. This latest model features a fully commercial stainless steel galley, an extended sun deck, a 20-square-metre swim platform equipped with a hydraulic Z-lift, and more.

Customisation options remain a hallmark of the model. “We can adapt exterior layouts with elements like sofas, Jacuzzis, bars, and loose furniture, while interiors remain flexible. It’s in our DNA to go the extra mile to realise an owner’s vision, even late in the build process,” said Nicky.

The yacht accommodates 12 guests across two VIP staterooms and two en-suite guest staterooms, with a crew of seven. “Its versatile layout makes it equally ideal for families, couples, or singles. Combined with its transatlantic capabilities, this flexibility makes YN205 an excellent choice for the charter market,” added Matthew.

Built for Transatlantic adventure

The Martinique model was originally envisioned as Moonen’s Caribbean-focused range, tailored for the US market. “We optimised the yacht’s length, beam, and height, achieving an impressively low draft of just 2.15 metres – ideal for shallow Caribbean waters – and a top speed of 17 knots,” said Nicky.

With a range of 4,000 nautical miles at a cruising speed of 10 knots, “Martinique yachts have demonstrated transatlantic capabilities, even on a maiden voyage. This speaks volumes about Moonen’s craftsmanship,” added Richard. With equipment far above market standards in both size and quality, plus integrated system redundancies, owners can rely on safe and comfortable cruising with transatlantic range.

YN205 is also designed for dual use on either side of the Atlantic, with a converter for the shore power input for both US and European standards and US and European power outlets throughout the entire yacht. Added bollards and fairleads for side mooring further cater to the US market, where side mooring is more common than in the Mediterranean.

Dutch craftsmanship

“While many manufacturers charge extra for commercial compliance and worldwide power, this is one example of many that Moonen includes as standard, setting the Martinique apart as a comprehensive package,” said Matthew. “Very few yachts in this size segment offer such an impressive range and commercial cruising registry. It’s far easier to remove a yacht from commercial compliance than to reinstate it, giving this yacht a significant advantage,” he added.

Another highlight is the two-year global shipyard warranty, double the industry standard for this size range. “This shows the confidence Moonen has in the quality of their yachts,” said Richard. “Yachts need to be used and tested, as many issues don’t surface in the first year,” explained Nicky, adding: “With only two yachts built annually, our craftsmen know each vessel inside and out. We can fly anywhere in the world to handle minor adjustments quickly and effectively.”

“Buying a yacht is an emotional decision – you’re investing in a dream and a lifestyle,” said Matthew. “Moonen ensures the yacht is always ready when it matters. There’s nothing else like the package provided with YN205,” he concluded.

Meet Moonen in Palm Beach

Visitors to the Palm Beach International Boat Show can explore the craftsmanship of Moonen Yachts firsthand by visiting the IYC stand. The Moonen 110 Mustique will be available for viewing on E-Dock within the IYC display, and representatives will be on hand to provide further details about the YN205 and its customisation options.
