Last week we enjoyed
some amazing sailing in Sydney with the Moonen Yachts Racing team at the 2023-24 16ft Skiff Australian Championships. The quality of the fleet makes it absolutely thrilling to watch – the spectator fleet is a testament to that. As a Dutch superyacht builder with Australian owners, Moonen Yachts is proud to support the talented Moonen Yachts Racing team in the high performance 16ft skiff Australian class.

Congratulations to Moonen Yachts Racing skipper Daniel “Ruffy” Turner, sheet hand Simon Hoffman and bowman Matt Stenta. Shifty conditions and a bit of bad luck meant the title was not in reach this year, but hats off to the Southerly team and skipper Sarah Lee who became the first female in the event’s 102-year history to take home the silverware.

Thank you to host club St George and all the volunteers who organised this year’s event, hosting 54 boats and their teams. The fast Australian skiffs are not only thrilling for spectators, but the beautiful summer setting combined with the fun and friendly atmosphere make the regatta a world-class sporting event. We’re looking forward to catching a couple of the Manly club race weekends before the end of the season. Go the Moonen!
