The Moonen Yachts Racing team has kicked off the 2023-2024 racing season with a win at home in Australia. It was an impressive showing for the reigning club champions who have a brand new skiff to start the season at the Manly 16ft Skiff Club.

“We started with a win which is great,” says skipper Daniel Turner. “The new boat looks amazing. It’s a completely new set up from top to bottom and has also been updated with the new Moonen Yachts brand look.”

As a Dutch superyacht builder with Australian owners, Moonen Yachts is proud to support the team in the Australian 16ft skiff league, says Moonen Yachts Commercial Director Victor Caminada.

“It’s particularly nice to see some of the owners from our Australia-based Moonen yachts enjoying a day out on Sydney Harbour to support the Moonen Yachts Racing team.”

Back-to-back races through the summer will test the skills of the Moonen Yachts Racing team. The high performance 16ft skiff is a unique Australian class with a fiercely competitive fleet. The extremely high sail area-to-weight ratio requires no small amount of skill and experience to sail, reaching speeds up to 25 knots with 67m2 (720 sq ft) total sail area.
